Our Story

Jamal Johnson is the owner and operator of Mal Famous Seafood & Grill, a venture driven by his lifelong passion for cooking. Since he was a young child Jamal has immersed in the culinary world, eagerly assisting his father in cleaning and seasoning crabs every weekend during crab season. This early exposure ignited his love for seafood and set him on a remarkable culinary journey.

As a teenager, Jamal’s creativity in the kitchen blossomed, constantly experimenting with different seasonings and innovative ideas for seafood and cheesesteaks. At the age of 18, he accomplished a significant milestone by developing his own unique butter sauce and crab seasoning, a testament to his unwavering belief in his culinary abilities.

In 2021, faced with the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Jamal was forced to close down his barbershop. Determined to support his household, he adapted and turned to a new venture. Starting with seafood boils prepared from his own home, Jamal’s creations quickly gained popularity, attracting a loyal following of
seafood enthusiasts.

Fueled by his unwavering faith and a deep desire to invest in himself, Jamal took a bold leap and acquired a food truck. Embracing the belief that self-investment is crucial for success, he embarked on this new chapter with enthusiasm. Today, as the owner and operator of Mal Famous Seafood & Grill, Jamal takes pride in bringing his passion for cooking and his unique flavors to a broader audience.
